Web Design History and Examples

I have been designing and creating websites since 1996. There are very few people that can make that claim! At the time, I was working for AOL content partner, Tribune & Knight Ridder, selling websites to tourism business in Florida. When they launched an independent website outside of the AOL platform, named "Destination Florida" no one knew how to build what I was selling. I had to deliver what I promised my clients, so naturally I taught myself how to do it. 

I'm unique in that way.  I'm a designer, but because of my background at MCI selling the telecommunications technology, and self taught website creation history, I learned how to "write code".  It's unusual to find someone that problem solves from both sides, the functionality of a website, combined with the end user experience. 

And that's how my career as a web developer began.
